Client Profile & Background

WindDrive is a German wind power drive equipment maker supplying core drive motors and generator assemblies for onshore and offshore wind farms across Europe.

Outdoor generators face -40°C to 85°C swings and continuous strong vibration, while variable-frequency operation forms stray shaft current eroding grease, rolling elements and raceways.

Project Targets

Supply high-adhesion, wide-temperature resistant insulated bearings keeping stable insulation for over 8 years to match the long maintenance cycle of wind power equipment.

Engineering Challenges

Extreme temperature resistance

Thermal expansion and contraction across -40°C to 85°C easily cracks the coating and breaks insulation.

Anti-vibration adhesion

Continuous strong vibration loads cause conventional insulation coatings to peel off locally.

Long-life stability

Ultra-long maintenance cycles demand insulation stable for 8+ years without failure.

Custom Wind-Power Insulation Coating Solution

Alumina ceramic coating

Thickness optimized at 80–180μm for wind power, effectively cutting off the shaft current loop.

Wide voltage withstand

Stably resists 1000V spark impact, with maximum DC withstand voltage up to 3000V.

Insulation resistance

≥100MΩ at 500V DC and ≥50MΩ at 1000V DC, qualified across -40°C to 85°C.

Toughened formula

Thickened, toughened coating improves thermal shock resistance and adhesion, no peeling under 12kN vibration.

These bearings lifted our generator bearing life from 1.5 years to over 8 years.

Project Results

Electrochemical corrosion faults were eliminated, average bearing service life rose from 1.5 years to over 8 years, and EGEN secured long-term bulk orders for multiple overseas wind farm projects.
